Joint Exhibition on Ancient Tang-Bo Road Opens at Sichuan Museum

On September 27, Ode to the Plateau Road – A Joint Exhibition of Rare Cultural Relics from Seven Provinces and Regions along the Ancient Tang-Bo Road opened at Sichuan Museum. The exhibition focuses on the promotion of ancient road culture by displaying 189 pieces/sets of rare cultural relics from Qinghai, Gansu, Shaanxi, Ningxia, Xinjiang, Tibet and Sichuan provinces and regions, and reflects the special value of the ancient Tang-Bo road to its surrounding area and the cultural exchanges between Han and Tibetan people.

On the basis of the original tour, the exhibition at Sichuan Museum includes Tubo relics from Sichuan, such as the Tubo stone carvings from Shiqu county and the Tubo tomb of Galazong in Luhuo County. The discovery the group of the Tubo stone carvings confirmed the existence of another Tang-Bo route mentioned in the historical records, which lies in the south of the traditional one. The discovery also plays a significant role in the research on the ancient Tang-Bo road, the relationship between the then Tang and Tibet peoples, the transmission path of Buddhism, and the history of Tubo Buddhism and Tibetan Buddhism art.

The exhibition will last until October 27.
