On October 3, the Splendours of the Ancient East: Antiquities from The al-Sabah Collection was unveiled at the National Museum of Qatar. The exhibition features around 170 objects collected in Kuwait by Sheikh Nasser Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah, former Deputy Prime Minister of Kuwait, and his wife Sheikha Hussa Sabah al-Salem al-Sabah.
Exhibits include jewellery, furniture, utensils, metal, agate, etc. The history of the collections can be dated back to the third millennium B.C. to the fifth century A.D. It vividly demonstrates the art and material culture of the ancient Eastern world and traces the roots of Islamic art. The exhibition is expected to last until February 3, 2021.
