On December 19, 2020, the exhibition Fashioned From Nature, which is jointly presented by Design Society, the Victoria and Albert Museum and the China National Silk Museum, opened at the Shenzhen Sea World Culture and Arts Center. The exhibition will last until June 6, 2021.
With 400 global fashion treasures over the course of 2,300 years of history, the exhibition unveils an unprecedented fashion journey between East and West. By a vivid narrative of inheritance and innovation of generations of craftsmen, designers and manufacturers, the exhibition explores how fashion has been inspired by nature, how it affected the wild, and how design promoted consumption changes to explore a more compatible and sustainable way to get along with nature. With the exhibition, Design Society has brought the British national-treasure fashion collection to China for the first time, revealing the past and present of textiles and clothing from a global perspective.
